Superintendent's Letter of Support

October 24, 2020

Bullhead City Elementary School Parents and Guardians,

As Superintendent, I made a commitment to be transparent and data based with all decisions regarding Covid-19. The District has relied on science and innovation to guide us as we created mitigation plans and return to school protocols.

Our plans have evolved based on feasibility, staffing levels, a District COVID-19 Task Force and what is best for students. BCESD teachers and administration have never wavered in their commitment to excellence and have incorporated many options to ensure BCESD students continue to receive the highest quality education possible, especially in unprecedented circumstances.

As a result, BCESD teachers and staff have been teaching in ways that they have never done before. In person and on-line classes are being taught during the same school day with content and instruction as close to identical as possible. This framework represents the best option given resources and time and has its challenges. All BCESD teachers and staff have shown over the past four weeks that they are up to the challenge, but they continue to need our support.

Every one of us is a continuous learner and as we move into the fifth week of this new framework, we must gently remind all parents, students and community members to give kindness to our teachers who are serving on the front line in ways they never envisioned.  As Albert Schweitzer once said, “Constant kindness can accomplish much, as the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.”

We thank you for your trust and your support.
