Welcome Message from Todd C. Flora, Ed.S., Superintendent

July 1, 2019

Dear Colorado River Union High School District Staff, Students, and Parents:

Thank you for welcoming me as your new CRUHSD Superintendent.

I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer break and spending time doing the things you love with those you care for most. The summer also serves as a tremendous opportunity to address the needs of the district in terms of updating our facilities, conducting maintenance, and performing necessary upkeep and required repairs. While we are addressing the physical place we call our schools, we are also gearing up for the 2019-20 academic school year as we get ready for our returning students and incoming freshmen.

We are excited and enthusiastic about this new school year and the excellent programs we offer our students, and the dedicated staff that helps make them all possible. We hope that each student takes full advantage of the curricular and extracurricular possibilities available to enhance their high school experience to the fullest.

As I begin my tenure here as Superintendent, I look forward to meeting all of the staff and students, as well as the parents and community members. I plan to visit each school often, interacting with teachers and students in order to witness the learning process in real time. This will create the opportunity to encourage rigor and engagement in all of our classrooms. I look forward to attending many events, sharing in the pride of our students and their parents as they showcase their talents. This will enable me to engage with our school community both on and off the field.

I welcome the entire school community to meet with me on the first Monday of each month throughout the school year beginning on August 5 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. This will allow us to share thoughts and ideas together, and address any concerns or questions you may have on a regular basis. These monthly meetings will be held in the district board room at 1004 Hancock Rd. In the event of a Monday holiday these meetings will take place the following evening.

Education requires a commitment from not only our students but from our entire community. Together we can insure that ALL of our students will succeed. Success depends not only a student’s academic performance but also their social and emotional well-being. The ability to engage and compete with the necessary skills is vital for our students to become active members of our community and beyond. Together we can identify, address, and advance the efforts of all stakeholders so that our students can be the best at whatever they wish to become.

I look forward to meeting all of you and working together towards the success of our educational community. It has been said that “anything is possible when approached with singleness of purpose!” So I am extremely confident that our combined efforts will result in tremendous opportunities for our students it is my hope that this singleness of purpose will continue to lead our students to a lifetime of accomplishments and outstanding achievements.
