An online survey opens February 1 to help Colorado River Union High School District (CRUHSD) governing board members see what the community wants in a new school superintendent.

The survey is open to anyone within CRUHSD, including taxpayers, parents, students, faculty, staff, business owners and other interested residents.  It closes at noon on Wednesday, February 20.

Designed by the Arizona School Boards Association (ASBA), which will tabulate the results, the survey is anonymous.  It covers areas such as leadership skills, academic programs, community, staff development, decision making, operations, support services, budgets and finance, and the district’s strengths and weaknesses.  The multiple choice survey also has areas for individualized responses.

Links to the survey are available on the district’s website (www.crsk12.org), its Facebook page (Colorado River Schools / @crsk12az) or directly through its Survey Monkey address,

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ColoradoRiverUnionHighSchoolDistrict_CommunityE-Survey .

Once tabulated, the results will be presented to the CRUHSD board, which will work with recruiters from the ASBA to narrow down applicants.  Updates will be provided at upcoming school board meetings.  Forums with community leaders and the general public will be scheduled once the board selects its finalists.

The new superintendent will succeed long-time administrator Benje Hookstra, who has announced his retirement at the end of the school year.  Hookstra currently oversees both CRUHSD and the Bullhead City Elementary School District.  While a shared services agreement between the two for various departments and classroom collaboration remains in place, the two districts will each be seeking a new superintendent.

BCESD’s board has not yet announced a timetable or process for its superintendent search.
